Some clues you’re becoming overwhelmed by stress and anxiety include:
You’re avoiding driving because you’re worried anxiety or a panic attack will make you dangerous on the road.
Your job performance is suffering because anxiety is making it difficult to focus and you’re concerned about having a panic attack at work.
You struggle to be present in your important relationships because you’re always on-edge and struggle to be present.
You avoid social interactions because you can’t relax and simply enjoy being with other people and you fear having a panic attack in public.
You are no longer getting restful sleep because you find it difficult to relax and when you lay down your mind begins to race.
You are desperate to get away from your incessant thoughts and the uncomfortable feelings in your body, but can’t.
And when this happens, it’s natural for your mind to cycle through the following thoughts…
I wish I wasn’t feeling this way…
I wish I could be doing…
I wish I didn’t have to deal with…
I’m missing out on…
What is wrong with me…
Why can’t I cope…
Why is everyone else is coping better than me…
I shouldn’t be feeling this way…
What if my life is always like this…
I can’t live like this…
You know these thoughts aren’t helpful, but your mind feels out of control and you’re unable to stop your worrisome thoughts…
